  • When some updates are installed, F-Secure program dialogs are closed automatically.
When certain updates are received and installed, it is possible that your open F-Secure program dialogs are closed automatically.
  • Product got stuck in the upgrading state (system restore problem).
Reverting to a Windows restore point which contains previous product version blocks upgrade until new product version is released.
  • Installation or upgrade of Computer Security or Online Safety may fail, if Windows update is installing updates at the same time.
Sometimes when Windows update is installing updates, installation of Computer Security or Online Safety may fail. You need to run the re-installation from Launch pad > My Subscriptions > Install page to correct the situation.
  • Some packages show up as 'Not installed' in common settings downloads page before upgrade.
You may see some packages in 'Not installed' state in common settings downloads page before the upgrade. This happens when upgrade is waiting for remaining packages to be downloaded. All packages will change to installed state once the upgrade is completed and you have restarted the computer.
  • Upgrade will not start if there is not enough disk space.
If the upgrade process detects that there is not enough disk space for upgrading, no message is displayed to the user but it will retry later. Once user freed space on the hard disk, upgrade process will resume automatically at next check.
  • Tray icon is not always visible in Windows XP.
You can open the Launch pad from Start menu or desktop shortcut instead.
Computer Security:
  • DeepGuard may block some games or applications, or applications might be slowed down.
You can try enabling the 'Use the compatibility mode" from Computer Security > Settings > DeepGuard page and try to start the game or application again. If this does not help, disable also DeepGuard from On/Off -switch and try again. Even if these workarounds would help, please send us feedback through https://beta.f-secure.com/.
  • Computer Security prevents web chat from working.
User might encounter that some sites might not show content correctly, for example chat sites. Workaround is to uncheck "Do not allow applications to download harmful files" from Firewall-page.
Online Safety:
  • Block page's "Home page" button does not work in some browsers.
For Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome internet browser, clicking the home button will redirect user to new tabs and blank page respectively.
  • The whole page is blocked if the page contained a blocked element.
When user manually refreshes a page with blocked elements, the whole page is being blocked instead. The first visit to the site is however unaffected.
  • Block page not shown in Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) when Enhance Protected Mode (EPM) enable.
Block pages are not shown for IE10 user which uses non default settings with EPM setting enabled. Workaround is to run IE10 in "Administrator" user account.
  • Website will bypass block pages when "Real-time Protection Network" is not available.
When "Real-time Protection Network" is not available, user most probably able to visit any website regardless of the settings.
  • If bank web page uses unclassified domains to store information, the page is not loaded correctly while Banking Protection is active.
Turn off Banking Protection from Online Safety user interface and please send us feedback through https://beta.f-secure.com/.
  • Chrome live search can start Banking Protection session when it tries to access banks web sites while searching.
If Chrome live search is on while you are typing an online bank address, Chrome already opens a connection and this may start Banking Protection session. Workaround is to disable live search.
  • Connection problems with proxy.
If Banking Protection session does not start and you are connecting to internet with a proxy, you should add proxy IP address to allowed websites list.
  • Internet Explorer user are being prompted by the browser whether to have their intranet settings enabled.
Internet Explorer user with browser extension enabled which visited a blocked HTTPS url will be prompted whether to have their intranet settings enabled. The user are free to chose whether to have them enabled or not as it has no effect to Online Safety blocking feature.
  • Internet Explorer browser extension compatibility with other extension.
Some feature might not work properly if user has other browser extension which is also intercepting web traffic (e.g. Adblock Plus, etc.)
  • HTTPS Search engine rating icon does not show in Internet Explorer 7.
Internet Explorer 7 user that using HTTPS search engine (e.g. Google), will not see any rating icon.
  • Manual browser restart is required if the browser is open during product upgrade.
User need to manually restart their browser if they had them open when the product is upgrading. Some feature might not work properly before it is restarted.
  • Web page can be distorted due to page elements’ URLs blocked or having an “unrated” category.
This can happen if web page elements (e.g. video, images, style sheet) is originate from another URL that is “unrated” or have a restricted category or address. You can allow the content by adding the address to the allowed list or reconfigure the category restriction.
  • Banking protection is not triggered in Chrome Incognito mode and IE InPrivate mode.
Banking protection is not triggered when user visits banking sites via Google Chrome Incognito mode, or IE with InPrivate mode.
  • The end of a banking session is not automatically detected.
This may cause problems if a user was doing a payment for online shopping and wanted to go back to shop web page. You should end Banking Protection session when you get a page redirecting you back to merchant web site. If you didn't end Banking Protection Session in time and got page load error, ending Banking Protection mode and refreshing web page should fix situation.
  • All banking sites are not yet classified as banks.
If you were expecting banking mode to turn on but it didn't, please send us feedback through https://beta.f-secure.com/ .
Safe Search:
  • You might see a prompt from Chrome saying: "Search by F-Secure" added.
After configured F-Secure search, when launch Chrome for the first time, you might see a prompt from Chrome saying: "Search by F-Secure" added. User action is required to enable or remove the F-Secure search extension. This is introduced by the new change in Chrome.

    • Firefox: 22 and newer. Sync is not supported

When user selects to install plugin toolbar for IE, it is installed system wide for all users. However, individual users can disable the toolbar in their IE settings.
  • Internet Explorer setting 'Prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider' enabled. Safe Search search provider for IE cannot be set as default automatically if user has previously in IE settings selected option "Prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider". That settings is found in Internet Explorer's "Manage add-ons" options, "Search Providers" page.
  • Firefox preferences locked. Safe Search home page and search provider for Firefox cannot be set if user has locked preferences. The corresponding check box is grayed out if Safe Search cannot make the modifications.
  • Existing Safe Search home page is not automatically detected.
User already has set the Safe Search as home page. When configuring Safe Search the existing Safe Search home page is not automatically detected and another home page is added.
  • Internet Explorer will complain about corruption after uninstallation.
