3. SONAR Engine- Improved: Symantec Online Network for Advanced Response is the latest technology to battle malicious programs developed exclusively by Symantec. Hence, even if the form of a program changes, it would easily be scrutinized even if it attempts a disguise by using Windows processes. SONAR has been improved significantly in this version of Norton Internet Security. A more common problem which occurs while cleaning up of viruses and other malicious program is the harm inflicted to the Windows system files. Normally, the only solution till date was to install a fresh copy of Windows. Norton Internet Security 2014 (V21), along with tons of reliable resources on the internet, has been able to tackle this problem. Now, more files can be reverted back or repaired to the most stable of states.

4. Advanced Logging: Unlike its counterparts, Norton does not believe in just removing the threats from the system. It logs in practically everything related to the threat detection and removal process and uses it as a reference for future instances of threat management.

5. Identity Safe - Enhanced: Norton’s password management tool has undergone a makeover! The improvements include smart form-filling and full-vault password searches. Password management is a complicated task and Norton has strived hard to give you the best possible security while minimizing complexity.

Norton V21 Beta Known Issues:

Firewall - Error message is displayed when cancelling out of Program Rules Manual Configuration Wizard.

User Interface - Norton Widgets (Zone, Manage, Mobile Family) are not visible after “pinning” the Advanced Main User Interface.

Identity Safe - “Log In” and “Log out” links both exist within the Identity Pillar in Norton 360. Additionally, the “Log out” link doesn’t work.

Identity Safe - “Identity Safe Online” link in Identity Pillar in Norton 360 doesn’t work.

Virus Definitions - Full (non-streaming) definitions may not update as frequently on the pre-release product. You will continue to get streaming updates, but eventually the “Definition Update” time may show a few days (even after updating Streaming Definitions). Do not use the Intelligent Updater (from the Security Response site) to manually update the definitions, as they’re not compatible with 21.0 and will cause issues.

This guide will help you install & activate Norton 2014 software: Norton Antivirus V21, Norton Internet Security V21 & Norton 360 V21 in Windows 8/7/Vista/XP

How to install your new Norton security software?
You can install your Norton 2014 (V21) from a CD or from a file that you download.

To install your new Norton product
1. Do one of the following: 
- If you install from a CD, insert the CD into the optical drive. In Windows Vista or Windows XP, click Install Norton. In Windows 7 or Windows 8, click Launch Norton Install and then click Install Norton.
- If you downloaded your copy of Norton, double-click the file that you downloaded.
2. In the Norton installation page, enter the Product Key if prompted.
3. Click the Norton License Agreement link, read the agreement, and then click Close.
4. After you have read the agreement, click Agree & Install.

How to activate your new Norton security software?
To activate Norton 2014 (V21), your computer must be connected to the Internet. If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, you must configure the proxy settings. You can configure Network Proxy Settings in the Administration Settings window. Go to the Norton main window, and then click Settings> Administrative Settings> Network Proxy Settings>Configure.

To activate your Norton from the alert
1. In the alert, click Activate Now or Renew Now. Getting Started
2. Click OK.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. In the window that appears, click Done.

To activate your product from the main window
1. In the Norton main window, do one of the following:
- If you purchased a subscription version of a retail product, click Activate Now.
- If the product came installed on your computer, click Activate Online Now.
- If you want to renew the subscription of your product, click Renew.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate or subscribe your product.

Norton products 2014 called Version 21

The next version of Norton products for 2014 called: Version 21 

As you've seen, the current version no longer has the year as part of the product name: e.g. Norton Antivirus 2013, Norton Internet Security 2013 etc. 

Starting with this release (2013) Norton products are called the same but the version in the name is gone e.g. Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360 etc. 

This allows to perpetually releasing versions of the products without having to do GUI (Graphical user interface) changes in the products. 

In order to find the version of your Norton product: 

1. Start your Norton product. 
2. On top-right corner, click Help & Support or Support > About 

 For example: 
21.x.x.x: 2014 (Next version) 
20.x.x.x: 2013 (Current version) 
19.x.x.x: 2012 
18.x.x.x: 2011
